We don’t do long martini lunches these days, wear gloves while shopping or smoke at the office. But we can bring that 1960s style of sophistication and elegance back with the new line of clothing that Banana Republic is revealing on August 11. Based on the costumes worn by Joan Harris, Betty Francis and Don Draper on the popular show, “Mad Men”, you can wear a trendy, yet nostalgic 1960s look.
According to Banana Republic’s website, the clothing company has gotten help and inspiration from Janie Bryant, the Emmy-nominated costume designer for AMC’s “Mad Men”. The new line carries 65 items – from suits and dresses, to ties, scarves and jewelry.
The dresses are all lined, and have that feminine, 1960s feel. Many of the accessories have leopard print. There are cardigan sweaters, cigarette-style pants and even shoes inspired by the show. For men, there is the classic Don Draper style suit, along with cardigan sweaters, vests, and accessories like tie clips and a pocket square.
Tomorrow evening, Thursday, August 11, you are invited to participating Banana Republic stores to preview the new line and enjoy a complimentary cocktail. It all starts at 6:00pm at the Bellevue Square and Downtown Seattle Banana Republic locations.
